YOGA CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

GREAT FOR: BEGINNERS / NEWER TO YOGA / LOOKING TO SLOW DOWN YOUR PRACTICE 

BEGINNERS

Focuses on the basics of yoga poses and body awareness by breaking down individual yoga poses and yoga sequences combined with creating awareness in the body for how poses feel to you. Props (bolsters, blankets, blocks and straps) are used to support your exploration. 

 

ALIGN

Want to know exactly how to set up and get the most out of a pose? This class is for you. Class is designed to focus on alignment for your body utilizing props such as blocks, straps and bolsters. [Students must bring their own. At this time the studio is unable to supply.] All levels are welcome. Feel free to ask questions and figure out how your body feels in postures. Each class we will work towards a specific "peak pose". 

  

GREAT FOR: ANY LEVEL

ALL LEVELS: VINYASA

Focuses on Vinyasa (Vinyasa means to place with intention and is characterized by linking specific postures together so you can move from one to another, seamlessly using breath to create a “flow”). This class is great for creating connection to the body through breath and movement at any yogis at any stage of practice. 

 

RENEW + RESET

Disconnect from the outside distractions to reset the mind and activate the body. Class incorporates 30 min of Yin to decompress the mind + body with 30 minutes of Vinyasa to energize the body + awaken the spirit. 

 

MICRO YOGA

Designed for a mid-day break to recharge your battery. Great for all level of student, including beginners. Class incorporates a mixture of basic Vinyasa sequences to energize the body and a series of micro movements [shortened mini adjustments] creating a grounding energy.                                                                                                                               

VINYASA + YIN

This class includes an active Vinyasa sequence to create warmth in the body. Followed up with a calming Yin practice focusing on seated postures held for several minutes to restore and nurture the body. 

                                                                                                

GENTLE

Focuses on a combination of soft, organic slow movement sequences and breath work. Props (bolsters, blankets, blocks and straps) are used for support. This class is great for beginners and for yogis looking for a more nurturing experience. No previous experience needed 

 

YIN

Focuses on Yin Poses (postures held longer for deep stretching of the connective tissue). Class is designed for a slower pace with long passive held poses. The magic of Yin is in the benefits of joint health, flexibility, circulation and mental clarity. This class is great for any yogis at any stage of practice.

 

 

EVENING WIND DOWN

Great for all level of student, especially beginners. EWD focuses on really tapping into what's happening in the body and the mind. Incorporating a mixture of gentle warm up movements and relaxation techniques [Yoga Nidra, Reiki and Restorative yoga]. Class is designed to calm the nervous system, work the connective tissue and soften our joints and muscles to achieve a deeper state of relaxation.                                                                         

 

GREAT FOR: STUDENTS WITH PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

POWER: VINYASA 

Focuses on a high impact Vinyasa flow. This advanced level flow emphasizes the connection to the body through a more intense breath and movement sequence. This class is great for yogis with previous experience (experience recommended but not required).

 

SLOW BURN

Focusing on slow, deliberate transitions between postures and long active holds. It's a challenging practice, yet approachable. You'll focus on breathing, body awareness and mindful movement at a consistent pace. 

 

 

YOGA FOR HEALING - SPECIAL MONTHLY OFFERING 

Our physical response to trauma and stress is instinctual; it just happens. Sometimes, that survival mechanism is so powerful that is stays turned "on" even after the threat or stress has passed. Other times, the stress is ongoing or chronic. This creates imbalance or separation between our mind, body and spirit; the residue of the trauma or stress negatively affects thoughts, emotions, hormones, sleep patterns, immunity and relationships. Yoga and mindfulness have been shown to positively impact these imbalances by activating the mechanisms that calm, soothe and re-integrate our mind and body.

This class includes gentle yoga poses, breathing and mindfulness exercises that ground and center the body. Practices will be offered as tools to build strength, flexibility and self awareness ( noticing sensation). Students are encouraged to move with curiosity vs. judgment, and make choices around what feels useful for them throughout the class. The intention here is to hold space and empower individuals to reclaim their bodies and build a set of self care practices that support them on their path toward healing. Accessible to all levels, no yoga experience needed. Ages 17 and up.
